This is a pivotal moment in our years-long movement to ensure the next iteration of our local transportation half-cent sales tax prioritizes fixing our local roads and improves public transit options that meet the needs of everyone.

A Community-Wide Effort for Better Roads and Safe Streets

Fresno County roads are crumbling. That means cracked pavement, potholes, rough rides, and higher repair costs for drivers. Over the years, deferred maintenance has taken its toll. Roads that were once in good shape have deteriorated, and many neighborhood streets have been left behind. Every year we wait, repairs become more expensive, and conditions worsen.

This isn’t just inconvenient — it’s costly and unsafe.

Roads in poor condition damage vehicles, slow emergency response, hurt local businesses, and waste taxpayer dollars. Fresno County can do better — but only if we invest now.

Small Investment, Big Impact

By investing a small amount now, we can rebuild and preserve our roads, improve safety, create local jobs, and protect our economy from the higher costs of delayed repairs. This plan serves as a blueprint for a better, more accessible, and affordable transportation system.

Local Funding to Fix What Matters Most

Over several months, thousands of Fresno County residents and taxpayers shared their transportation priorities through surveys, listening sessions, and community meetings. Fresno County Residents for Better Roads and Safe Streets has developed a plan to protect local funding for a better, more accessible, and more aﬀordable transportation system. The group is collecting signatures to place a measure on the November 2026 ballot that would give Fresno County voters the opportunity to continue a half-cent sales tax to invest in a transportation system that meets our everyday needs.

This is not a new tax—it’s an updated plan to replace a half-cent sales tax that has funded transportation improvements in Fresno County since 1986, which is set to expire. That’s why we must act now to keep investing in our local streets and roads.
